Let the Adventure Begin!

The name of this blog - Священный - translates from Russian to English as "blessed" and literally means "holy". As I thought more about this word and searched the Bible for verses with the word "blessed" (just so you know, there are a lot), I realized that from all different perspectives it adequately expresses my hope in going to Russia.

  • I want my words & actions to bless the Lord as I am involved in ministry and going about everyday life. "Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day." Psalm 96:2 // "The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation." Psalm 18:46
  • I want to be a blessing to the people I am in contact with: my team, full-time missionaries, University students, and Russians.
  • I want to multiply these blessings by leading students in following Jesus so that together, we could make His Name GREAT!

I am excited to share this blog with you as a peak into my journey to Moscow, Russia. My goal is that as you read about the experience, you would feel involved in what God is doing in Moscow. I already know that the posts will likely vary greatly from expressing extreme joy and celebration, to sharing the challenges and frustrations that come with living in a foreign country, doing full-time ministry. My hope is that we will experience two-way communication and mutual encouragement as you read and respond.

Meet the team:
[Jessareh, Meghan, Taylor, Kailene, Jessi, and Mike]

I can't wait to spend a year doing ministry and growing with this stellar group of people - please keep us in your prayers as we embark on this adventure in international missions!

Life Update:

I moved all of my furniture & boxes to my Mom's in Oregon last weekend, but I'm back in Boise until June 11th. In my last week and a half here, I'll be meeting with as many people as possible to share the vision of why I'm going to Russia.

I will also spend my last few days in Boise with the kids I've been a nanny to for the past four years. It will be hard to say goodbye to this sweet family that has become very much like my own. I'm looking forward to some good quality time with the kids before I have to leave!

Slowly, but surely, I've been moving through my "to-dos" for moving to Russia. I bought my new winter jacket online yesterday! Although it will be hard to test out in the middle of summer in Oregon, it will definitely be the nicest (and hopefully WARMEST) coat I've ever had!

The next big item on my list is renewing my passport! It does no good when my passport currently expires WHILE I'm in Russia... that would not be very convenient.

Thanks for checking out the new blog! Let me know if you have any questions.
